What is Reflexology
Reflexology is a non-invasive technique of applying gentle pressure to reflex points on the feet or hands which correspond to reflexes in other parts of the body.
Response to treatment is on an individual basis but generally Reflexology can bring a state of deep relaxation, stimulating the bodys healing processes and helping your body and mind to return to a state of balance and well being. The hands on nature of the therapy is found to be relaxing and after a treatment most people experience a sense of vitality and relaxation. Reflexology can be enjoyed by people of all ages from children through to the elderly.
I am passionate about health and wellbeing take a holistic approach to my treatments, looking at the person as a whole and not just the symptoms that may be presenting. Treating clients holistically aids their ability to cope with any illness or problem.
Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe and should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. Existing medical conditions can often be better managed when combining medical treatment and Reflexology.
With origins in India, China and Ancient Egypt, Reflexology has now become a recognized and accepted complementary health practice in the West.
Reflexology Is Effective For:
Increased relaxation
Release of tension
Improved sleep
Improved mood
Increased well being
Reflexology in Pregnancy
Pregnancy Reflexology can be a useful therapy to help relieve some of the minor discomforts that occur throughout pregnancy, in a natural way. A woman's body goes through huge hormonal changes during pregnancy in order to support the growing foetus and adapts to accommodate her change body shape and gait. Reflexology allows pregnant women to experience the healing touch at a time when they are like to be feeling more emotional and sensitive.
Providing there are no known medical health issues or history of miscarriages, pregnancy reflexology can start as soon as the pregnancy is established and continued throughout the course of the pregnancy. Some people prefer to wait until after the first trimester of pregnancy to begin their treatments and the best course of action can be discussed on an individual basis.
Mothers might ask if reflexology can bring on labour for them but in line with the aims of balancing the body, the baby will come when the time is right. However, receiving reflexology will make sure that the mother is relaxed and ready to receive the baby and the body is in the best possible state to deal with the labour when it does happen.
Reflexology in Cancer Care
Some of my clients include people living with cancer. They find that the soothing, calming and relaxing nature of the therapy assists they emotional wellbeing during this challenging time.
What to Wear
Treatments are given with bare feet and trouser leg slightly rolled up so I recommend wearing loose fitting clothing.
Appointment Times
Please arrive on time for your appointment as I wish to get the most out of your treatment and will have to cut the session short if you are late. I don't have a waiting room so ask you kindly to only come to the door for your allocated treatment time as I may have a client in already and won't be able to answer the door if you arrive early.
What to expect
At your first appointment you will have an initial consultation followed by a full Reflexology session. I recommend wearing loose fitting clothing for maximum comfort.
Cancellations
Cancellations at less than 24 hours notice or 'no shows' will incur a 50% charge. Of course there are times when things happen outside of our control and there may be occasions when a cancellation charge is not appropriate. Please get in touch as soon as possible if things change as my time can then be offered to another person.
